From the banks of Lake Kivu, beside the Nyiragongo Volcano, we find this intriguing washed coffee. Both sweet and savory, this holding features vibrant acidity (think of a fresh blueberry) and a nice syrupy mouthfeel. Congolese coffees were once prominent in the industry, but after a brutal civil war and its aftermath, the country’s coffee output disappeared. Revitalization efforts are underway, and hopefully we’ll see growing coffee quality bring prosperity to the country.
We feel that this coffee hits home for folks looking for something out of the norm — we are always seeking something flavorful and unique, and this coffee provides a flavorful foray into the world of Congolese coffees.
